Erica Duncan
President Erica Duncan is from Dallas, Texas. She has been a registered nurse for 22 years working in various fields. She holds a Masters in Nursing with the specialty track of Adult Gerontology Acute Care from the University of Arlington. She also holds a Master’s in Business administration from Texas Woman’s University. She currently works as a full-time Nurse practitioner in the field of Pulmonology. Her goal is to deliver effective and quality care to her patient’s. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her granddaughter. She has been the President of the Board for LipGloss for Love since 2015. |
Sydney Elliott
Vice President Sydney Elliott is the Youth & Business Manager for City of DeSoto. She spearheads youth initiatives as well as facilitate business activities within the Park & Recreation Department. Sydney has a passion for youth and developing relationships that create positive social impact. Sydney was an original founding member of DeSoto Youth Advisory Council (now known as DeSoto Teen Council which she oversees). Sydney currently serves as Vice President for the North Texas Chapter for National Forum for Black Public Administrators and also serves as a mentor for Light Up The World. In her free time, Sydney loves traveling, reading, and 90’s R&B music. Her “why” is that she once experienced domestic violence and does not want the next person to experience it. Not only is she passionate about the youth she sees everyday in the community but also she is passionate about seeing friends, family, and those she might not even know be strong, courageous and educated about domestic violence. |
Jazkira Combs
Treasurer Jazkira Combs is a teacher in the Dallas Independent School District. Serving and helping people have always been a goal and purpose for her since a very young age. A Dallas native, she went to Bloomington, Indiana to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Social Studies. Jazira’s passions include calligraphy, reading, and playing with her dog, Roxie. Because of her passion for children and education, she strives to make an impact in the life of each child she encounters and loves doing so in unconventional ways sometimes while still holding traditional values. |
LaQuita Walker
Board Member LaQuita Walker is currently the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Lancaster High School. Serving three years at this school and her 22nd year in education.She is working on changing the culture at Lancaster. During her time at Lancaster she has been named Coach Of The Year three years in a row, won District three years in a row with three play-off appearances, and one Regional Finalist (basketball). Her time at Lancaster has been by far her greatest accomplishment to date as a Head Girls Basketball Coach in High School. God has blessed her to be able to use sports as a way of connecting with our youth and she takes pride in it. This is not a job she takes lightly, as she is in close contact with our youth. “They Are” our tomorrow so it is a Blessing to be able to be hands on. With all of this being said, she would be remised if she did not mention what she feels to be her Greatest life accomplishment. She is blessed to have a supportive husband, Mark Walker Jr. and a son, Caleb Walker to call family. As a family they serve and attend Willow Grove Baptist Church in many capacities. It is their hope to leave a Legacy as a Family for others to know that Christ is real. |
