Benefits Dinner 2018In October, we held our 4th annual benefits dinner. We heard from Dr. Tiffany Young, who recounted her experience of, as a child, witnessed her mother embroiled in a violent relationship. Dr. Januari Lewis described the story of her best friend and how, despite doing everything right, a toxic system that enables abusers and disbelieves victims often has a fatal end. Cynthia Williams informed the audience of the prevalent nature of domestic violence and how the personal accounts that were shared are symptoms of an epidemic, rather than isolated incidents. Finally, Dr. Samone Brown was our keynote speaker, who gave us insight into her experience with domestic violence, which is further documented in her book Beneath the Scar: Rise to Healing.
